101 uses for a cushion

I found this old magic lantern slide at Blakemere today..the man seems to be securing a crocodile with a pile of cushions and a very odd looking butterfly?

101 uses for a pan scrubber and window cleaning pole

As Seen on TV.....collecting DNA from basking sharks with a pan scrubber on the end of a window cleaning pole.

101 uses for an empty plastic bottle

OR , as one canal boat owner did here...a white plastic bottle..they had two identical bottles which looked like they had been kept especially for the job.

101 uses for a carrier bag

Had a very pleasant walk along the Trent and Mersey Canal...spotted a number of ways the boat owners highlighted the trip hazards of their mooring stakes...they seemed to use mostly Sainsburys orange carrier bags..

101 uses for a tyre

Michael spotted this on the tele and tried to capture it on camera for me...a tyre being used to "drop" barrels of beer on in a pub...

101 uses for a train ticket

Funny how something can be under you nose for so long before you notice it. My "train project" at the moment is a patchwork, and I just realised how I have been using train tickets to secure pins and needles, not the most exciting other use...but a very practical one to keep from dropping pins on public transport.

101 uses for a traffic cone

As seen on Whitegate boot sale, the man said it stopped the top heavy clothes rack from blowing over, he usually used a bag of soil, but had forgotten the soil, then he remembered he had this cone in the car and it was heavier than the soil and was thus working much better...the lady next to him had used a bag of clothes to do the same...but that wasn't working so well.

101 uses for a pine cone

Michael and Archie spotted this as the Pallant House Gallery in Chichester..the gallery had lots of very expensive chairs that they didn't want people sitting on..this was a visual clue not to sit...and who would?
After telling Pene about this, she said that in many National Trust Houses they use a thistle to deter would be bottoms on chairs.

Luckily Archie had won these love hearts in the penny slot arcade..they worked well..

101 uses for a door

Spotted on the way to the co-op for a tin of pineapple rings. Rather sad to see such a nice door being used as a wheelbarrow ramp.

101 uses for an oil drum

My quest to photograph these oil drums from a fast moving train has become legend on the 7.31 train to Manchester. I have aquired a number of "train buddies" who find it highly amusing that I wanted a photo of these..and the fact that I missed several times..catching only a blur as they zoomed past..(sorry..we zoomed past)..They are now a tourist sight and are admired by the regular train travellers who get excited each time we approach the cement works...it is good to have things to look out for!

I was very pleased with the last photo...my 4th attempt..photography at 30+ miles per hour is an art in itself.

AND THEN....I thought I would have another shot at it on Tuesday when I was sat alone....shot 5...

my best one so far....and we were going pretty fast.

101 uses for a long handled broom

This wasn't there for long..it was soon replaced with proper door stops..but it did the job for a time. I was very happy to capture it's brief existence.

101 uses for an office chair

I found myself being resourceful today, the uni does have trolleys, but I didn't want to go looking for one and I knew I would get told off if I carried the water bottle..so I wheeled my chair to the watering hole.

101 uses for a spray polish lid

My sister has a lot of trouble with blue tits pecking the lids of her milk bottles...so the lids off spray polish are left for the milkman to pop on the top..
